Blindness in India is a very acute problem. Every third blind in the world is Indian and there are only about 14,000 ophthalmologists in India to tackle the problems of the eye. The number of patients is more compared to the ophthalmologist available so more number of ophthalmologists are required who can treat these patients with modern preventive and curative measures. Drishti eye care & research centre was started on 26 th January 2015. with an objective of providing the best possible eye-care services in the region, particularly to the rural population, by the most economical methods, with most modern & state of the art technology directed towards prevention, diagnosis and treatment, to all sections of society irrespective of caste, creed or economic considerations.
